Scratch and sniff the denim. Yes, the denim.
I found the scratch and sniff denim below and I'm sharing it as a piggy back on my last post.
***
I told you that design patents are granted for inventions that are new, original, and have ornamental design for an article of manufacture. But I would argue that these jeans should receive protection since the scratch and sniff aspect is not functional. Yet, as I mentioned, design patents protect only the appearance of articles.
I imagine that Naked and Famous denim's scratch and sniff creation can qualify for trademark protection. As for the process of how they put the scent on the jeans and how they make it stay, they could have also qualified for a patent or at least have a good trade secret* on their hands.
♥ Thanks for reading and supporting my blog! ♥
*a trade secret is a protected process, practice, formula, pattern, recipe, confidential information, and the like, which is not general public knowledge and protected for an economic benefit. Naked and Famous may have a problem here since they have released information, such as that the scent is baked onto the jeans.

omg, too funny! i am not sure... have to think about this one. :)

beijinh♥ grande linda :)

DeleteThis is really bizarre...I mean come on. We have colourful jeans, waxed jeans, embellished jeans, but do we need scented jeans?? This makes ZERO sense. Thank you for your honest opinion on the skirts..and I do look forward to seeing different styles that you'll be adding to your closet. I hope the 30 days has not yet hit on the Zara misaligned chevron skirt...looking for the receipt tonite.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by B & I'm glad you appreciated the comments on the skirts <3
DeleteHahaha, I probably wouldn't buy a pair but I would find them so incredibly intriguing! Reminds me of my primary school days when all my erasers and pens smelt delicious. ;)

ReplyDeleteYes, my headband is from Antho! We are headband twins, I love it!!!
Yay, we need a secret handshake ;)
DeleteI think this is cool, innovative and thinking outside of the box. It has potential to be very popular especially with girlie girls who love to smell good and look good. It is bazaar but super cool!
ReplyDelete:) glad to hear your thoughts on this!!
DeleteIf the jeans smelt like a perfume or something than i'd consider them, but if they had scents like "GRAPE! CHERRY!" Then absolutely not.

:) thanks for your opinion!
DeleteHah, well, it depends on the smell of the pants. A strong smell can be removed though thorough cleaning. As a rule of thumb, it's best to clean newly bought clothes before wearing them to get rid of any kind of harmful bacteria sticking onto the fabric.
ReplyDeleteSeeing that bees already have a fondness fr me (we moved out of New York City last year before having our first baby- another tragedy of the suburbs is the 'wildlife') I would steer clear of scented denim. But cute jeans!
