Last minute looks v. planned outfits

This post came about because I want to sleep in later tomorrow morning so I decided to choose my outfit tonight. This got me thinking: I am so impressed by Bravoe Runway in (her fun range of looks but also) the sense that she dedicates time to plan her outfits.

Do you plan your outfits at least the day before wearing them?

I like working under pressure and I find that my best styling comes out of my last minute looks. If I plan with enough time to change my attire I become indecisive and waste time. I also dress for the mood I am in or want to be in; as such, vacations can become an overpacking nightmare since I try to match my outfits to my the range of moods and expected activities.

Exhibit A:
On Petite Fashion Challenge # 11 I took my (sightseeing to night look) challenge pictures ahead of time and ended up posting last minute because I had not edited out my face in the pictures because I had not chosen my preferred look of the two I put together.

Here was my losing number:
Sightseeing look:
A loose braid worn to the side is casual and good for keeping your hair out of your lip gloss if a gust of wind hits you in the middle of a fabulous picture.
A long sleeved silk blouse can keep you warm while checking out museums but cool enough even under the sun.
Outfit details:
BCBG dress, J Crew silk blouse, Tory Burch flip flops, Vintage Gucci purse,
YSL arty ring, no label beaded necklace

Dinner transformation:

Outfit details:
BCBG Dress, Bottega Veneta heels, H&M bracelets, Submariner Rolex

  3. I'm a walking contradiction, I love to plan my outfits wayyy ahead of time but at the last minute, I change my mind and put on an entirely different outfit haha! And its worse when I travel, I simply can't travel light cuz I carry around some "just-in-case-I-change-my-mind" pieces.

  8. I definitely am the type that will bring exactly what I need when I travel. I was on the road for 8 months in my previous job so I got used to living out of a suitcase! Thank you for mentioning me and yes...that trenchvest is very well made. It is 100% cotton and it is lined :)

  9. I don't try to plan my outfits, I just end up wearing the same combinations over and over again!

    I like the shoes :)

  10. I do try to plan my outfit the night before so I don't have to rush around before work. (I check the weather on my iphone.) One of my coworkers is SO ORGANIZED that she plans her whole week of outfits on that Sunday night!

  11. I never plan my outfits... I really should because my room is usually a disaster from me throwing clothes all over the place trying to find something to wear! And for class, I usually just end up with a plain tee or northface pullover because its too complicated. Sighhh =)

  14. I don't think my best looks come with out planning but I am a slacker at planning outfits ahead of time.
I have to say you make this dress look more versatile than it looks. I like the silk blouse over the top and the hair braided for a day at the museum.
