50 Classics Challenge

My friend who works at a law office gets to wear jeans to her job! -Well, only today, in support of the fight against breast cancer on Lee National Denim Day. So I consider this post my participation! ;)

How to wear denim to work: make your outfit smart casual with a top you'd normally wear to work.

Is your job participating? Or is your dress code ever flexible enough for jeans?

Petite JD is hosting a "50 Classics Challenge." This week's challenge was to create a casual day time look only using items from the following chart:
http://matchbookmag.com/

To keep in line with the classics guide, I swapped out my equestrian style jacket for a classic wool coat paired with a silk scarf. IRL the play on textures is great.

Outfit details:
Ann Taylor Loft blouse, Gucci jacket, Hermès belt, Hermès jumping boots, Hermès silk scarf, J Brand denim, J Crew coat, Louis Vuitton damier print purse, Rolex submariner watch, YSL arty ring

♥ Thanks for reading and supporting my blog!

  2. My dress code is ever so flexible (I have no restrictions in what to wear, perks of being a shop owner lol) but I don't wear jeans. It's too hot and humid where I live, so I go by wearing shorts and skirts cuz it fits the vibe of my shop.

Love the 50's outfit you put together :) The coat and the silk scarf are really nice touches.

    1. I love seeing the personal style of shop owners. I'd find it hard to work in a shop surrounded by beautiful clothes and limited to formal wear! :D

  6. Yay! Looks great. I love how you did a blazer and a jacket to show the outfit for two different seasons. Also, great job using a lot of the items. I used a bare minimum, but I'm also a VERY simple kind of gal =)

    @ Bravoe:
“Way too casual”? Hmmm, has someone worn pajama jeans? Lol... shh, someone at my job did!! There should be a blog where we can submit candid shots of what not to wear ;) –hmm, maybe “what not to wear” show? Re the bag: get it! ;) I like that I hardly see it around.

    Petite JD:
Daily accoutrements have become my way of bringing down the price for stuff I buy—by this I mean I think of cost per wear, so I must accessorize ;)

  9. The best part of this outfit is the buckles on the boots and the blazer! I love the subtle but chunky jewelry which brings in a pop of color. The purse is fly and the fact that is has a shoulder strap on it brings more of an every day use to it (multi functional). The coat looks extremely warm and takes on a life of it's own once it is added to the outfit. Great ideas on wearing brown tones for the winter.

  11. I agree with your advice on how to make denim work appropriate. Sometimes I dress up more on top when I can wear jeans to counteract. Others dress casual on top too and it just doesn't look right in the office.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  14. I just took out my H mokka boots and they have a odd greyish patina over them, I've only worn them three times, have yours ever had this?

I have heard that the box leather turns into an admirable patina--but what you are describing sounds not so. I have had my brown ones for a few months under a year and red ones for one year without any noticeable change. Did you wear yours in the rain? I have heard of blistering occurring with these--my advice is to contact your SA or local H. I believe the jumping boots qualify for H spa. HTH <3
