What do you think of Bebe producing a "girl at work" vs. "working girl" look?
The look
The good
- The skirt passes the fingertip test
- Jacket length is good (imagine it a bit shorter since the jacket is one size too large)
- The jacket's shawl collar is perfect for a brooch.
The bad
- This suit looks darker online.
- The pink threads in the suit are bright and give it a fun Legally Blonde look but sadly it is no Devil Wears Prada.
- The material is thin and the large tags on the clothes read "Fabric Imported from Europe" -Cotton, acetate, polyester, rayon, and nylon blends are not special because they are imported.
The ugly
- Shoulder pads
- This jacket was the last in petite sizing but it is 1 size too large. If my feelings towards this suit had to be summed up in a relationship facebook status it would be "complicated"
| Bottega Veneta long knot clutch, Chanel shoes (both pairs used), Express opaque stockings, J Crew tank top, Datejust Rolex |
The verdict
The jury is still out. I am not convinced fully either way yet. If the suit cost less I would be fine with it in the right size. But at $98 for the skirt and $159 for the jacket, my money may be better saved to use towards a vintage Chanel suit.
Update: Being returned. You should not have to convince yourself into buying something. I gave it a try but this Bebe suit did not work for me because it will never compete with the Chanel suit I have my heart set on.
What is your take on Bebe suiting?
♥ Thanks for reading and supporting my blog! ♥

I personally wouldn't wear the suit but it really does look flattering on you. The shoulder pads and the frayed edges is what would hold me back. The black-tipped shoes are to die for. Also, love your new title thing! Too cute. I need to start posting, just no time in the day!!
ReplyDeleteI was actually looking at this suit and I am not sure what it is but something is off...I am thinking it could be the lapel and the fringe, along with the tweed. Chanel tweed suits are always simple in design, the tweed is the statement with understated buttons with cc or their beautiful camellia flower. There's too much going on, I would however keep the skirt! That I do like :)
ReplyDeleteThe fringes on the suit and the skirt was sort of distracting, especially if you wear it to work. The blazer, to me it's better off for casual wear. I would rather wear it with skinny jeans and heels.

If Bebe were trying to reinvent themselves or broaden their image with this suit, I'd call it a fail. It's exactly the sort of tackiness that the Bebe wearers in my mind would consider work appropriate. :)
ReplyDeleteOn a positive note, I will admit that the pieces may work better as separates. It's a cute jacket and a workable skirt.
Good thing you're getting your money back, I'm sure you could get cuter/better tweed separates for more reasonable prices.
I think it looks good on you, but it's definitely really pricey!
ReplyDeleteSince your blog is lovely, and since you are one of my lovely followers, I am giving you a blog award! :)

I think returning the suit is what is best. I have a love hate relationship with the suit because as it accentuates aspects of your body, it looks very uncomfortable and stuffy. The shoes in the last two photos are HOT, HOT, HOT but you can find a more sleek quality suit to rock with them!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those shoes with the black cap toe. LOVE!!!
ReplyDeleteI loooooove the jacket!
ReplyDeleteNice legs! I think you made the right decision to return the suit. I think the blazer would be cute with some jeans though!
