Ann Taylor Skirt Review

I really appreciate the comments and suggestions I have received from readers :)  Thanks for stopping by!
Top: Brooks Brothers (See here--on sale $35.80!)
Purse: Purple Louis Vuitton (Bowling Montaigne)
Shoes: Salvatore Ferragamo (Parodia)
Do you see a difference between these skirts?

2P                             v.                             0R

OP was my usual AT size but as of late it has been a little too form-fitting for my preferred work needs.  So I ordered their regular 0 and 2P.  The difference is not major--but I prefer the slightly higher rise of the 0R but the shorter length of the 2P.  I decided to style the 2P for this look:

Scarf: Hermès (Les Dômes Célestes in Purple)
I love the versatility of a scarf.  I especially like that I can easily change up between the looks throughout the day.  I have worn this scarf in the looks below as well as on my head, as a top, as a cape, etc.  --I wear skinny belts when my outfits have too much going on to use a scarf as a belt.

Do you or your coworkers wear scarves to work?
Do you have scarf styling suggestions?

  1. I may be in the minority but I think both skirts look good. I think the bigger difference would be when you sit but they're both keepers IMO.

    As for scarves, nobody in my office wears them and until your posts I never really saw them as a young thing.

  3. I like the 0R. It looks neater.
    A woman in my office always wears scarves. They look nice on her, but for some reason they remind me of the damsel in distress.
    Cool blog.

  4. Watercolor Eyes:::
    You're right about the sitting thing. When checking it reminded me of a prim and proper older woman who I saw sleeping on a bus once. I was seated across from her and even though she had her ankles crossed, her skirt gave a peepshow :( That said, while seated I prefer the 0.

    As for not seeing scarves as a young thing, I wonder, are you from the U.S.? I ask because I feel that in Europe I even saw teenagers sporting silks and I have yet to see that in the U.S.

  5. Francesca:::
    Thank you for your comment. It is a 90cm scarf. Do you wear scarves too? If so feel free to post a link to a pic that shows how you style yours.

    ARosenBklyn:::
    I think I may keep both sizes and just have the 0 hemmed approx. 2 inches. As for the damsel in distress look, I think I can see where you are coming from because I actually add silk scarves to add more femininity to work outfits. :)

  6. Despite not seeing scarves worn around I like your use of it as a belt. Many other petite bloggers use belts on skirts and some even tuck the belt in different interesting ways but I like that thus far your style seems so different from other bloggers that also wear business or business casual attire.

  7. ^^Btw, I Veronica B=Watercolor Eyes. That's just my yahoo s/n so I fixed my name postings to my actual name. And yup I am from the States and I get that people outside of here use scarves a lot but here I immediately think of the older women in church. LOL but like I said, I like the different look of it as a belt.

    I like the imagery that "watercolor eyes" brings to mind. :)
    Also, I'm glad you like the scarf as a belt. Maybe I will warm you up to the idea of scarves on younger women. I think a silk scarf is classy and can bring in vibrant colors to an outfit without taking a look out of the professional context.
    I love and also use the looks other bloggers wear with belts; specifically the way Annie of "Really Petite" wears hers comes to mind.

    As for my style being "different" from other bloggers, I am glad you feel that way because that is exactly what I think this blogging community should do: show us how to adopt and manipulate simple pieces into our own individual style and body types.

  9. I can tell one skirt is slightly shorter than the other. I like the scarf tied at your waist with no ends dangling. It's very chic.
    Thanks for your comment on my blog. It's always nice to find new blogs and I'm you helped me find you!
    Cheers,

    Thanks for stopping by. I loved the pics on your blog. When I wear scarves like this one a little higher, on my natural waist, I turn the ends into a bow :-D
